Small Guest Count, Big Energy: Kelly & Steven’s Bar Harbor Wedding

Intimate Celebration at Bar Harbor Regency

DJs in Bar Harbor Maine

Updated March 29, 2026

If you’ve been following my recent Maine wedding event recaps, you know that Memorial Day weekend in Bar Harbor was one for the books. After kicking things off with a high-energy night at the Bar Harbor Club, I headed over to another iconic local landmark: The Bar Harbor Regency.

While every venue in Acadia offers something special, the Regency provides a unique blend of grand oceanfront views and spaces that feel remarkably personal. This was the perfect setting for Kelly and Steven, a couple whose passion for life (and for a great party) was evident from our very first phone call.

Planning an Intimate Bar Harbor Wedding

When Kelly and Steven hired me for my wedding DJ services, we spent a lot of time discussing the “flow” of the day. Unlike the 180-guest gala I had performed the night before, Kelly and Steven were planning an intimate celebration for 36 of their closest family and friends.

In the industry, some DJs shy away from smaller guest counts because they fear a quiet dance floor. However, having performed at dozens of intimate Maine weddings, I know that the right music selection and a personalized approach can make a small group feel like a stadium crowd.

The Ceremony & Reception Atmosphere

The Bar Harbor Regency served as a breathtaking backdrop. With the Maine coast glistening behind them, the couple shared a beautiful ceremony before moving the party inside.

To enhance the aesthetic of the reception room, we utilized professional uplighting, which added a warm, elegant glow to the space. Even with a smaller group, the energy was through the roof from the moment the newlyweds were introduced until the final song of the night.

The Soundtrack: Ceremony & Reception Music

Music is the heartbeat of any wedding, and Kelly and Steven curated a list that perfectly balanced romance and high energy.

Ceremony Selections:

  • Processional: “Perfect” (Instrumental) – Ed Sheeran

  • Bridal March: “All Of Me” – Brooklyn Duo

  • Recessional: “You Make My Dreams Come True” – Hall and Oates

Reception Highlights:

  • Grand Entrance: “Now That We Found Love” – Heavy D

  • First Dance: “A Thousand Years” – Christina Perri

  • Parent Dances: “Cinderella” (Steven Curtis Chapman) & “Simple Man” (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

  • The Finale: “Don’t Stop Believin'” – Journey

In Their Words

I’m a straight shooter and I never go out of my way to provide feedback unless it is completely warranted. In this case I felt a need to write about my amazing experience with Greg. Let me begin by saying planning a wedding is not easy and at times can be very stressful. Greg made everything so easy..not once did I stress about anything DJ or MC related. He made us feel like we were his number one priority every time we spoke. Any request we had or advice we needed he was there for us. I can say he bent over backwards for us and went above & beyond for all of our needs. He was friendly and professional..he made us feel at ease and less stressed for our wedding. His uplighting was beautiful and it made our reception look really good. We gave him a lot of control over what songs to play and he got people on the dance floor! We had a tiny wedding of only 36 but there wasn’t a moment the dance floor wasn’t packed. There’s not enough kind words I can say about Greg and how incredibly happy we were with choosing him to be our DJ. Great guy..made our lives easier and less stressed..professional & takes his job very seriously…provides superb entertainment..would highly, highly recommend his services!
