Cunningham farm wedding

djs in gray, maine

I’m going to be honest: I’ll be so thankful when I’m not writing blog posts about postponed weddings due to Covid anymore.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful that we’re getting them into the 2021 calendar – absolutely. But, it’s been a long road for these couples filled with ups and downs. Wedding planning comes with stress of its own, throw a pandemic on top of it and it becomes downright hectic.

I’m sure you guessed it by now, but Sean and Kaylin were scheduled to get married in 2020. Due to the pandemic, they (understandably) postponed to 2021. Due to the high demand on dates in 2021 Kaylin and Sean chose a Thursday date in order to keep their original venue. I know what you’re asking yourself – a Thursday? But, in 2021, it’s normal. Thursdays, Mondays. Honestly, any day of the week has become popular. But, here’s something I don’t think any of us expected: Thursday weddings have been an absolute blast. Why? I think guests make a long weekend out of it. They take Friday off from work, let loose on Thursday and still have their entire weekend to enjoy. No joke, the parties have been awesome on Thursdays.

I was particularly excited for Sean and Kaylin to host their wedding reception. I’ve gotten to know them so well over the two+ years of planning that you can’t help but have that same type of pent up energy and excitement about their day.

Ceremony + DJ + Uplighting + Photo Booth

Cunningham Farm Wedding DJ From a services perspective, the original plan was to host the ceremony outdoors. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate. As a result, the ceremony was moved indoors to the smaller barn at Cunningham Farm. Which, if I might add, was a great option to have and pretty unique to a property like Cunningham Farm. Always have a rain plan, people – you never know when you might need it 🙂

Inside the reception barn, we had a photo booth, signature video DJ booth, and uplighting. Aside from a beautiful couple finally getting the opportunity to party with their friends one of the highlights for me was Kaylin’s father giving a phenomenal speech. It was heartfelt, funny, and well delivered. I hear a lot of speeches and this was a standout.

So many talented vendors came together to make this reception a true standout. Stone Cove Catering lead by Sarah and her staff delivered a phenomenal meal. Jill Hoyle Photography captured their wedding photos while Rising Moon Films provided videography. And, it wouldn’t be complete without a little sweet tooth (cake), the incredibly popular and always in high demand: Bear Brook Bakery. I considered myself lucky to be part of this amazing vendor team!

When it came to the reception? Well, it didn’t disappoint! I had a feeling Kaylin would lead the charge on the dance floor and to my surprise Sean was right there with her. Speaking from experience, grooms have a tendency to disappear from the dance floor. Not Sean. This guy was the life of the party. And, what a party it was. I was (and am), so incredibly happy for these two. It was a long road but we finally got there and the destination was everything we all hoped it would be. Such a great night filled with wonderful memories.

In Their Words

DJ Greg Young is simply the BEST! Since day 1, he was always unbelievably responsive, organized and he is just so down to earth and so kind. Our wedding was postponed due to Covid and Greg ended up connecting with my family to put together a little video with photos and videos from friends to commemorate the little backyard ceremony that we had last year. And he did this amazing gesture simply because he wanted to see us smile!

Our wedding day was unreal – he had everyone on the dance floor the entire night, he knows how to read the vibe of the crowd and this combined with the awesome photo booth (his photo booth attendant was also amazing) and the up-lighting throughout our barn venue – it made our night that much more memorable.

12/10 stars for Greg – I can’t say enough good things about him, so whatever event you are planning, please connect with him – it’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make!
