York High School Graduation Ceremony

The evolution from DJ to production company has occurred over many years and York High School is the perfect example to share. I’ve been providing DJ services for the YHS prom’s for nearly a decade. For these events we commonly provide our large production sound system including dual 18″ subwoofers and a line array. Intelligent lighting, photo booth, video screens and tons of giveaways.

Over the past few years that relationship has grown into also servicing the York High School Senior Night, Graduation Ceremony and Project Graduation.

In 2020 the graduation ceremonies occurred in pods with no more than 50 attendees to adhere to social gathering restrictions. Thanks, Covid. In total, I believe we ran the graduation ceremony 8 times over the course of two days.

Fast forward to 2021: restrictions for outdoor events lifted just weeks before and suddenly we were “back to normal.” Expecting between 900 and 1200 attendees gathered on the football field, we set out to deploy a line array system front of stage and delayed stacks for the audience further back.

We utilized RCF line arrays, QSC delayed stacks, Shure ULXD wireless microphones, a digital mixing console and mixed the entire ceremony for students and families to enjoy.

This particular High School Graduation did not include any video components for the in-person audience and the school administration provided a live-stream of the ceremony for those unable to attend in person.

Project graduation entertainment

Immediately following the graduation ceremony, we started work on the project graduation entertainment. And, wow. York High School knows how to do project graduation! From a services perspective, we provided our signature Laser Tag and DJ entertainment combination. This was a huge hit with a crowd from start to finish! Laser tag included inflatable bunkers, unlimited game play and real-time scoring. To add to the excitement we provide a DJ dropping the best music during the arena gameplay.

Senior Night Movie

In 2020 we had to take Senior Night outside. In 2021 the administration decided to keep the tradition alive. While the weather was certainly chilly, students enjoyed ice cream, a beautiful sunset, great music and then a slideshow that was prepared by a few of their peers. We displayed the slideshow on our massive inflatable video screen while also providing ample sound for the students to enjoy the event.
