River Winds Farm and Estate

Labor Day weekend is always busy with weddings here in Maine. Saturday I was in Rangeley at the beautiful Mountain Star Estate (check out Will and Mallory’s wedding here); on Sunday, I headed to River Winds Farm and Estate in Saco.

This was my first time at River Winds Farm and Estate but I had toured the property earlier in the summer and gotten an idea of the layout. During the 2020 hiatus that was the pandemic, the owners of River Winds Farm and Estate took the time to heavily invest in property upgrades and, wow. That’s all I can say. Off the reception, the barn is a deck where cocktail hour took place. Down off the deck is a beautiful hardscape patio that was just installed where the ceremony took place overlooking the incredibly well-manicured grounds. Stunning.

I have to touch on the groomsmen and the groom real quick: they all wore white which rarely happens and they looked dapper AF. Not surprising, the groom (Ryan) is co-owner of Sevens Barbershop in Saco, a full-service luxury barbershop and highly rated spot. So, it was no surprise that the Bride, Groom, and the bridal party were all fashion-forward and on point.

Working alongside Sharon, from Reflections of You Events we got set up and organized for the day. Handling the catering was the one and only, Noble Barbecue. Handling the baked goods was Brodie’s Kitchen and capturing the photos was Britney Kelley Photography. I provided a ceremony sound system with prelude music, music for the processional, march, and recessional. For the ceremony, I also had a lapel microphone for the officiant (the bride’s brother, Michael), a lapel for the groom, and a handheld microphone on a stand for the readings. Inside the reception barn, I provided DJ services, programmable intelligent dance floor lighting, and a social booth.

I got to know Ryan pretty well throughout the planning process and I couldn’t have been more excited to be involved with his wedding. The dude is an intelligent, hard-working, and motivated entrepreneur, which I respect greatly. He had just opened his barbershop right before the pandemic started and he and his business weighed on my mind constantly. fortunately, he and his company made it through the lockdowns and government shutdowns and came out the other side. And, with all the stress of the pandemic (they were originally going to get married in 2020), I knew they were ready for a great party. Ryan and Alex were tight on space in the barn – I think they maxed out their guest count, so once the tables through the middle of the barn were taken down and the dance floor opened it was absolutely packed. Wall to wall for the duration of the reception. An absolute blast and I was thrilled for Alex and Ryan. Music wise, I sprinkled some classics in early but late night it was a club vibe. 2000s hip hop and current tracks worked well for their group.
