Prom season – 2023! Here. We. Go.

I always get amped up when Prom season rolls around. Why? Well, it’s the kickoff to event season here in Maine and it’s an exciting time to get back out on the road and start partying with people! This year we kick off prom season with the students of Thornton Academy. While we’ve collaborated on Homecoming dances and Prom’s in the past, this is the first time that Thornton has hosted an event at Halo at The Point in Portland, Maine. It was also our first time working in the space. I love working in new spaces and I’m familiar with their sister property (Brick South) so I couldn’t wait to check out Halo. And, of course, it did not disappoint! Halo has an industrial feel with high ceilings, large windows and an awesome vibe. Located at Thompson’s Point it’s also in a hub of trendy businesses and I’m sure it’ll only continue to grow in its popularity.

For the 2023 prom we had an arrival photo station, intelligent lighting, premium sound, glow products, co2, and our signature multimedia screens. Arrival photos were streamed on the TV screens along with event photos. It’s always funny watching the reaction of students when they realize the images we’re capturing will be shared throughout the event. Kids get hyped and the energy goes through the roof once we start sharing the photos from the event.

Students were decked out and we tried to match the elegance with a great stage presentation. We take a lot of pride in our appearance and differentiate our DJ productions from what schools get from other DJ companies in Maine. To do this we bring in multiple forms of technology to create an atmosphere and energy that is unmattched by other entertainers in the area. Of course we mix current tracks with party anthems and engage the audience with timely drops and announcements. Our ultimate goal is to create a memorable experience for the students to carry on for years after the last song ends. 

What about the music

At the end of the day, we’re a DJ company specializing in reading the crowd and responding to the energy in the room. As DJs the goal is simple: we want to engage as many people as possible. With music knowledge and experience we’re able to react in real time to what is working and what isn’t. If a song falls a little flat, we’re trained to beat-mix music and can seamlessly get out of it. The art of being a DJ goes far beyond simply playing a song. Understanding body language, song structure and being able to build the energy in the room are ingredients that make for a successful party.
